Environment
We have a continued commitment to doing business as sustainably as possible, and follow the latest in design sustainability from the Center for Sustainable Design.
Paper
Show your customers you care. Print your project with us on Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper stock. Unlike other paper certifications, the FSC designation applies to every step in the paper's life-cycle, from harvest to printed sheet. It's not just about recyled content, either — the FSC designation guarantees that your paper came from a responsibly managed forest located on undisputed land.
Power
Whenever possible, we insist that our associates and suppliers purchase their fair share of energy from alternative, sustainable sources, such as Bullfrog Power.
VOC-free inks, waterless printing, and printing suppliers who adhere to ISO 14001 standards for environmental management are just some of the ways we print sustainably. For more information on how your project is being printed, ask your account executive today.
Carbon Emissions
While we try to maintain a lifestyle that keeps our carbon emissions low by travelling locally with public transit, using local suppliers to cut down on transportation, and using energy-efficient, low-emission appliances, vehicles, and other operational devices, we still cannot live completely emission-free. We offer clients the chance to purchase carbon offsets for the unavoidable environmental damage caused by the work that goes into their projects, and we ourselves go carbon neutral at the end of every year by purchasing carbon offsets for our unavoidable emissions.
Many people do not understand how carbon offsets can be useful. While they may not reverse climate change, they certainly are an investment in slowing it down. Although it is a process that is not yet regulated or quantifiable, by investing in recycling programs, reforestation projects, and other environmental programs, we are investing in the renewal of clean air, clean practices, and the reuse of discarded goods, keeping them out of landfill. This article from the New York Times points out the good economic — and environmental — sense of carbon offsets.
